Standard Configuration Steps

Follow the steps below to install the VeloCloud Edge 510 in the standard configuration.

Step 1. Connect the Power

Connect the power adapter to the AC power outlet, and connect the other end of the adapter to the power port on the Edge. When the Edge powers ON, verify that the round indicator light located on the front of the Edge will illuminate.

Step 3. Follow Email Instructions

If you received an email from your IT administrator, follow the instructions in the email to complete the Edge activation.

Step 2. Connect to the Internet

Connect the Edge to an available Internet connection; connect the Ethernet cable to either of the ports labeled GE3 or GE4.

Note: The VeloCloud Edge is configured by default to acquire a DHCP IP address from the ISP on the WAN (uplink). When the WAN connection is fully operational, the indicator light on the front of the Edge is green.

Step 4. Connect Local Devices

Connect local devices such as desktops, phones, and switches to either of the ports labeled GE1 or GE2, or connect through the Edge’s Wi-Fi.

ADVANCED CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

The sections below describe optional advanced activation configurations that support the Edge activation Quick Start Guide that is shipped with the Edge.

Setting Up a Static IP Address
  1. Connect to the VeloCloud Edge via Wi-Fi or via an Ethernet cable, and obtain the DHCP IP address from the Edge.
  2. Open a Web browser and type in edge.velocloud.net in the address bar.
  3. Click the Details button located on the lower, right corner of the screen.
  4. In the Edge Overview section of the screen, you can click the Connected button to view your connected Interfaces. Note: If you click the Unconnected button, you can view any Interfaces not connected to an Ethernet cable.
  5. Click the name of the Interface you want to statically IP (GE3, for example).
  6. In the Configuration screen, set a static IP by selecting the Static option button, and then in the appropriate text boxes, type in the IP address, the Subnet Mask, and the Gateway.
  7. Click Save Changes to apply the settings.
  8. When prompted, type in the default username “admin” and the default password “admin.”

Setting Up PPPoE
  1. Connect to the VeloCloud Edge via Wi-Fi or via an Ethernet cable and obtain a DHCP IP address from the Edge.
  2. Open a Web browser and type in edge.velocloud.net in the address bar.
  3. Click the Details button located on the lower, right corner of the screen.
  4. In the Edge Overview section of the screen, click the Connected button to view your connected Interfaces. Click the Unconnected button to view any Interfaces not connected to an Ethernet cable, and click the Both button to display both connected and unconnected Interfaces.
  5. Click the name of the interface you want to configure for PPPoE (GE3, for example).
  6. In the Configuration screen, select the PPPoE option button and type in the Username and Password to complete the activation.
  7. Click Save Changes to apply the settings.

Installing and Configuring an LTE Interface as WAN
  1. Insert the LTE modem in any of the available USB slots on the Edge.
  2. When the modem is ready, it will be listed as “available” in the WAN Interface with the associated DHCP address.
  3. Follow the procedure above to configure a Static IP address if needed.
